Town Information

Adams has total area of 23 square miles with a population density of less than 200 people per square mile. As of the 2020 census, Adams had 7,858 residents. The median age is 44.5 years. There are approximately 3,900 households with an average household size of 2.8 persons. About 60% of households own their home.

Adams employs a representative town meeting form of government led by a board of selectmen and a town administrator. The current selectmen are  John E. Duval (chair), Richard Blanchard, Christine Hoyt, Joseph Nowak and Howard Rosenberg. Town services include police, fire, water district, water treatment plant, public works, recycling and trash compactor, the Adams Visitors Center and public schools.

On the state level, Adams is represented by Representative John Barrett III and Senator Adams Hinds.

On the national level, Adams is represented in the United States House of Representatives as part of Massachusetts’ 1st congressional district by Congressman Richard Neal. Massachusetts is currently represented in the United States Senate by senior Senator Elizabeth Warren and junior Senator Ed Markey.
